about

The first Social Interiors release.
The second was also on Pedestrian, with the duo augmented by Manny Gasparinatos.
Later releases post-1994 were released on the Extreme label by a trio now including Julian Knowles.

"Social Interiors was formed in 1984 primarily as a studio and recording project. The group is dedicated to uncovering some of the unique character inherent in Australia’s aural landscape. Meticulous editing and treatment form the basis of their sound compositions. The works are essentially about blurring the distinctions between sound and sight/site via careful manipulation of sonic materials to create phantom and perhaps impossible acoustic spaces."

"It's Rue and Fahey, tape and studio, doing strange and spooky things that veer from perverse music to musical perversion to an audio bed that wouldn't be out of place in the back corners of H.P. Lovecraft's mind."

Since the early 1980’s, Rik Rue has been composing with environmental and found sounds. He transforms these recordings into soundscapes that have evolved into radiophonic works, sound installations and live performances.
Rik released numerous cassettes on his Pedestrian Tapes label throughout the 1980s and 1990s, now mostly unavailable. This Bandcamp page will bring that archive back to life
